FDA needs more clout to make food supply safer (USA)
The "...FDA was hampered in its ability to carry out some food safety responsibilities... because it lacked certain scientific information" according to the director of Natural Resources and Environment for the General Accountability Office. The GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, said the FDA had tried to meet some of its recommendations but needed to do more.
